So this topic can turn into an hours long lecture but let's do a brief overview of the core and why it is important to a swimmer. The core is located surrounding the trunk, not just the 6-pack abs. It acts like a corsette and transfers force, powe ...4 months ago -

Andrew Sortwell created a new topic ' Google Rash' in the forum.Hi everyone,
I have a swimmer who may need to stop the sport of swimming due to allergy to the rubber on his goggles. Have any coaches here had a similar experience with swimmers developing a rash around their eyes, possibly due to the goggles or chlorine.
Your help will be appreciated.

Jenni Brozena created a new topic ' Hi All!' in the forum.Hello Everyone, My name is Jenni Brozena and I currently reside on the Advisory Board specializing in sports performance and injury prevention. I've had the privilege of working with the other members of the Advisory Board for close to a year now and I continue to be impressed with the amount of growth this organization is succeeding. I am located outside of Philadelphia, USA and am currently completing my Masters program in Exercise Science, Rehabilitative Science. I work as an Exercise Physiologist and Swimming Specialist where I utilize underwater stroke analysis video to identify and create injury prevention and performance programs for swimmers ages 12-College. Currently, my research interest involve breathing mechanics as they relate to scapular dyskinesis. Please feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. I hope your research and program development are going well. I reside 'just down the street' from you, about 20 minutes south of Baltimore. Based on the description of what you are working on, I think we have some overlap in our areas of interest. While I don't have any formal medical or physiological education, I have spent a good amount of time working to expand my knowledge on how the body moves, particularly with respect to swimming, and how to avoid injuries. (I suffered some significant injuries during my own competitive swimming career, and look to do all I can to prevent those experiences in the kids I coach) Along with trying to learn all I can about body mechanics, I am a big fan of utilizing technology, when practical, for athletic benefit and have built what I refer to as my stroke studio. Comprised of an Endless Pool, full array of video cameras above and below surface, a large screen monitor, and Dartfish, I work with triathletes and competitive swimmers to help them improve their efficiency, reduce or remove stroke problems that can lead (or have already led) to injury, and ultimately increase their success in the water. I would be very interested to hear about your research, particularly if you feel any of it could benefit my swimmers in avoiding injury or improving their stroke efficiency. If you would be willing to share, please let me know. My email is David@AquaticRhino.com.
Thanks, and all the best,
David Wendkos
